Mind Your Business Class Recap

Mind-Your-Business-FlierWEB

This morning I’m going over the surveys from Lisa Anderson Shaffer and my two day business bootcamp for lady entrepreneurs called Mind Your Business that was held this past weekend at Makeshift Society. I’m so happy that everyone had a great time and we will certainly incorporate your constructive feedback for the next time. What I gleaned from the last 48 hours is that small business owners really want help with how to manage social media, we want to be inspired by others, we want to hear stories of successes and struggles and we want safe places to talk about the nitty gritty not so glamourous stuff about running shit. I started thinking that we should probably come up with a business model that we can share with others and although there’s no recipe for success as far as we’re concerned, there are steps that you can take to propel yourself forward in ways you never thought possible. I am full of gratitude for the speakers that came to share their wisdom with the class: Maggie, Nicole, Karrie, Stephanie & Giselle. The speakers addressed issues like risk taking, learning styles, hiring employees, following your gut, branding and each and every one of them inspired me in a way I hadn’t really considered. I have all of these great tidbits of wisdom that I will carry in my heart from this day forward, so thank you! One of the best experiences for me in this class was seeing the lightbulb go off for people in the class. I was taking video throughout the weekend, so my camera would be filming someone while a speaker was talking and then all of a sudden they’d start nodding their head and writing furiously in their Mind Your Business notebooks and at that moment I knew that something had just clicked! Lisa and I hope to do this again soon and we’re even considered a second class that talks about competition and conflict because we know we could all use some tools to handle those situations better. In closing, I am eternally grateful to the speakers, Makeshift Society for hosting and mostly for Lisa Anderson Shaffer who is seriously the most dynamic collaborator I’ve ever had the pleasure of working with. Have a great week everyone and stay tuned for more information about how we’ll be turning the information from the class into something exciting for small business owning women!

Thank you, ladies (and all the truly fabulous speakers!) The weekend was a wonderful combination of networking, lightbulb moments and being kicked in the business butt… in a warm and supportive way, of course! :) Loved every moment of it.
